PROGRAMS

CAP - Cybersecurity Apprentice Program

CAP is designed to train and mentor cybersecurity technicians who come from low income communities, veterans and others who seldom have access to practical training programs that lead to living wage jobs and provide cybersecurity to small and medium sized businesses. The goal of CAP is to address the shortage of cybersecurity specialists by training, mentoring, and placing students across all sectors of the economy in industries that rely on IT for its services and performance. As cyber security industry training and actual practice are fundamentally inseparable, classroom learning is combined with placement in the IT offices of CAP business partners. Students will receive a stipend, a laptop computer and a mentor during the training. At completion of training, students are placed in a job and become mentors for the next class. This strategy builds CAP Alumni Association. In year 2-3, The Center has built a team of experts that can then provide a fee for service to small and medium size businesses to meet their cybersecurity needs. Recruitment for CAP students will be with Housing Authorities, Community Based Organizations, Veterans Organization and community colleges. Funding for CAP will come from local and state agencies, community foundations, business partners and individual donors.

CAPS - Cybersecurity Apprentice Program STEAM

CAPS is designed to train women in the cybersecurity technical program as described above to increase the talent pool of skilled professionals in the industry. Partnerships established with colleges, national women’s organizations and congressional offices to recruit young women to participate in the CAPS program will ensure diversity in the classroom. Funding will come from both the public and private sectors with an unfaltering commitment to equality across all sectors of the economy.

Cybersecurity Congressional FELLOWS Program

The Fellows program is designed to provide in-depth training and practical experience for early career professionals that hold Master’s degrees to address issues around cybersecurity policy and legislative analysis in both the public and private sectors. Fellows will attend weekly seminars led by experts and are placed in congressional offices, federal agencies and/or nonprofit organizations that facilitate, implement and create public policy. Recruitment will be through the graduate programs in universities across the country.  Potential funding of the Fellows will come from foundations, individuals and corporations working in the technology, defense and IT industries.
